Communication design challenge
The North Shore Primary Care Network (NSPCN) is a network of interconnected family healthcare practices, community health centres, and walk-in clinics in North Vancouver, West Vancouver, and Bowen Island. Because primary care networks are relatively new to BC, the client needed to educate the public on the collaborative healthcare model while also delivering on the Network’s purpose.
iilo was first tasked with creating a website to introduce the NSPCN to the public. Since the target audience included all North Shore residents, including marginalized and at-risk groups, the design needed to be accessible, trauma-informed, and culturally safe. We also wanted to showcase the theme of “connecting the dots” since the client’s mandate is to foster strong connections between primary care providers, nurses, mental health clinicians, pharmacists, and community resources.
The resulting website has a bright, clean, and professional look. The abundance of white space makes the website easy to navigate while evoking a caring, positive feeling.

In the next phase of engagement, we focused on optimizing the website’s navigation. We simplified the navigation experience by modifying the website’s top header.
One of NSPCN’s key objectives is to promote preventive healthcare, so our team also developed a custom North Shore Health Guide. This tool allows users to search for actionable steps to improve their health based on specific age ranges. We turned complex information into an intuitive interface structured by three categories: recommended vaccinations, screenings and checkups, and health tips.

Outcomes
NSPCN’s website is an invaluable tool to support its mission of improving healthcare access, coordination, and patient outcomes for North Shore residents. We designed it with flexibility and growth in mind so the site can accommodate a wide variety of content as the NSPCN grows.
The custom tool to educate patients on preventative care also positions NSPCN as a leader in innovation. This shines a bright light on the role primary care networks play in BC’s healthcare system.
Our impact
“We have big goals to change the primary healthcare system and iilo has been a wonderful organization to help us build a foundation to reach as many people as possible. They’re organized, timely, and communicate clearly. When changes happen, the project management team is flexible and works within our budget. They bring fresh ideas, professional experience, and valuable insights that we wouldn’t have thought of. And we love their creativity! The work they produced for us is exactly what we wanted, creating a website that’s accessible, easily navigable, and inclusive.”
