Interactive PDFs to communicate UBC’s campus plan
iilo helped the University of British Columbia (UBC) to communicate its plan and vision for a beautiful, functional, sustainable, and cost-effective campus to optimize teaching, learning, and research.
Communication design challenge
The UBC Vancouver Campus Plan was a three-part document released in 2010 to provide important information on the growth of the University. Intended for administrators, members of the Board of Directors, and planners alike, the comprehensive document had to be accessible, highly legible, and closely aligned with the UBC brand. Our design solution was to create a set of interactive PDFs with built-in navigation, as well as various images and maps to support the content.

Outcomes
The Plan’s complex content was presented in a clear, clean, and comprehensive way that encouraged reading on screen with a built-in document navigation system, so readers were never lost and could easily print the pages as required.
